Product Description¶
SimWitty is a security information management (SIM) software package that collects and analyzes log information from a corporate computer network. SimWitty is a detective control, meaning that its role in the security space is to detect potential security breaches and alert information security professionals. The software package does not, by itself, prevent attacks. SimWitty's value proposition is in early detection of suspicious activities facilitating in rapid response.
Release Status¶
SimWitty entered beta release in June 2010. Much of the functionality is still theoretical, though the core application is ready. The team’s goal is a feature-complete beta by December 2010.
Platforms and Configurations¶
SimWitty runs on the Microsoft Windows environment and uses Microsoft SQL for data storage, analysis, and reporting. The minimum requirements are Windows 2003 Server Standard and SQL 2008 Server Standard with SQL Server Reporting Services. Development work is done using C# with Visual Studio, on the .Net Framework. It integrates with network devices and *nix systems for holistic management.
How much it Costs¶
SimWitty is freely available under the BSD open source license.
